David started working with the experimental company Opera Factory in both London and Zurich:
"The key policy of this group was to treat opera as theatre; we had long rehearsal periods where the designs were built up through improvisation . We began performing at the Royal Court Theatre where that theatre's principles were transferred to music theatre."
